Target acquisition highlights Canada Hudson Moncler Men White Red Blue Short Sleeves T-Shirt s Bay Company took another step in its turnaround Thursday, selling off most of its mass market Zellers stores as it moves up market with sister chain The Bay to tap into the pockets of affluent shoppers. retailer Target likely marks the beginning of the end for Canada s second biggest low cost chain, retail experts said. The company, which was founded by Walter P. Zeller in 1931 for thrifty Canadians, has struggled to compete in recent years with retail giants such as Walmart and Costco. "Zellers were trying to get their house in order," Ken Wong, a professor at the Queen s University School of Business said. "They just had a number of large disadvantages." The story has been different for The Bay. private equity firm NRDC Equity Partners, HBC s flagship store has been repositioned to focus on the higher end of the market. The wealthy consumer tends to be more resilient to market downturns and spending in this sector of the market has rebounded sharply. The new owners brought in Bonnie Brooks, responsible for turning Hong Kong s Lane Crawford department store into a fashion mecca, to revamp the Moncler 2012 Women 0019 Bay. Brooks vastly increased the floor space dedicated to couture, bringing in a wider range of high end designers from the classic Chanel to trendy Juicy Couture. "Things are more upscale, the in store experience has been much better," said Wong. "There is still a considerable influence on price. They are trying Moncler Online Outlet Uk to get people in through the doors to the new store and it s still a delicate economy where price matters."

Tasting Room Tips at the Playhouse Wine Festival Can you smell it? It s that time of year again. Time to prep your nose, cleanse your palate, work on your adjectives, brush up on your descriptors and to put away your cologne. It s time for the 2012 Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival! One of the biggest (and most important) wine festivals in the world, each year the festival gets bigger and better and the city is abuzz with all things wine. We are very fortunate to live in a world class city that truly embraces wine culture and the wine industry. This is no more evident than the Playhouse Wine Fest. This will be my 8th consecutive year hitting the tasting room floor and I d like to think that I ve somewhat mastered the best (and most efficient) way to experience it all. With only three hours to make it through approximately 200 wineries from over 14 countries, you will definitely need a game plan. It s not as simple and easy as just showing up to a friend s place for a few drinks. If this is your first year, prepare to be overwhelmed by this incredible event and wineries present. Here are some tips to help you navigate the tasting room floor: Have a big meal before the show tasting all these great wines will stir your appetite, so try to eat before you show up. Sure, there will be some finger foods and bread at the show, but not I recommend a "pre game" meal to help sustain you for the entire three hours. Arrive on time being fashionably late for this event is just plain foolish. Three hours might sound like heaps of time, but trust me when I say, that it is never enough! The hours fly by and before you know it, you are running from one end to the other in search of that last drop of liquid gold. Did I mention that there are over 200 wineries?? Dress appropriately wear comfortable shoes, avoid layers, and avoid big dresses and jackets. You want to be as lean and aerodynamic as possible to make it through the crowds. Oh, and keep your cologne on the shelf for the night. There s nothing worse than trying to pull out the aroma descriptors of that 2007 Napa Cab with a huge dose of Chanel No. 5 wafting through the air. Keep the chit chat to a minimum no need to be anti social, but like I mentioned above, you only have 180 minutes on the floor and you don t really want to waste those precious minutes chatting and catching up with your friends. If you are at all serious about wine, taste as much as you can, take notes and chat with your friends after the show. Spit Spit Spit! Okay, I Moncler Red Jacket understand you re forking out a few hard earned bucks for the show and you want to have fun by trying as many great wines as you can, but if there is one piece of advice that you can take from what I have written here, it is to spit. If you plan to last the full three hours and still be coherent by the end, you will need to spit out most of the wine you are trying. This may sound odd and just plain stupid to most people, but you can still very much taste the wine without swallowing after you swirl and swish it around your palate before spitting into the spittoons at Moncler 2012 Women 0004 each table. Of course, you can throw back a few of the wine samples along the way, but these 2oz samples add up very, very quickly, so be smart and spew! Don t mix if at all possible, try to have as many white wines first before switching to reds and then dessert. I learned on my first go round that mixing and going back and forth between sparkling, white, red and dessert, was bad news. Be respectful let s not forget that there are hundreds of guests who are on the tasting room floor just like you who are trying to get as many samples as they can. Please don t be rude or pushy or cut in front of others who have patiently been waiting to get up close to a table. Take a moment to ask questions one of the great and unique things about this Festival is that it is one of the only wine fests in the world that require a principal from the winery be present. So the owner, winemaker or senior member of the winery will be there pouring wine! How great is that? What an opportunity to ask questions and learn from the experts! They would love for you to show interest and comment on their life s passion. Do your research beforehand go online and see which wineries will be present at the show. It s a great idea to plan out your route beforehand. Try to taste wines that you are not familiar with, instead of simply trying your regular Wednesday wine or the bottle you and your friends drink at your weekly dinner party. Explore the theme country each year, the festival has a theme country that they focus on. This year, Chile is the lucky choice. All the wineries from the theme country will be together at the back of the room, so make sure you allocate at least an hour or so exploring these wonderful wines. Drink water throughout the night you ll thank me.
